SOLDSOLDSOLD
Up for sale is my tow rig. Sold racing car and don't need the tow rig anymore. Would make a great tow rig or hotshot vehicle. Good mileage, great engine, cold A/C and Hot heat.
Its a 1999 Ford F-250 with the 7.3 liter powerstroke diesel and the ZF 6 speed transmission.
about 215k miles. As many know, that is just getting started for this engine. Runs strong, no problems with the engine.
Cold A/C and hot heat.
2 new tires on the front with less than 5k miles. The rear tires are still good but likely have about 10-20k left before they need replacement.
Truck has a trailer brake controller and is wired for a trailer.
Truck has a gooseneck hitch installed.
Mileage is about 18 in town, and i get about 14mpg highway towing 7k lbs on a two axle open car trailer.
Truck has never had a tuner installed on it.
This trucks former life was that of a work truck....so don't expect a looker. That said its not a total piece either. In the last four years I've done all the following major maintenance items on the truck, many of which are common issues for ford trucks of this vintage with high mileage:
A/C service with new compressor and condenser
Shift boots
Reverse light switch
speed sensor
Shocks
Front end ball joints
front steering linkages
new starter
two new batteries
new battery cables
parking brake cable
NEW LUK clutch kit.
New to me seats in decent shape
new vinyl floor
radio.
The bad:
1. there is a hole in the bed were its rusted through. its about 1 ft. long and a few inches wide. my toolbox sat over it so i never bothered to patch it up.
2. The 2nd gear synchronizer in the transmission is bad/stuck. This means you have to double clutch (and not granny shift, like you should?) the 1-2 gear change like a big rig or a dump truck. Its been like this since I've owned it and never caused me any problems.
I have taken this this thing all over the gulf coast towing and up and back to Tennessee 3 times with no issues over the time I've owned it, and would not hesitate to hop in it and drive it across the country.
Please let me know if you have any questions not covered in this add.
