Charlie, that was the one at all star. Exactly what I was gonna order had I not stumbled into the anniversary car (1 of 1964). I almost told them to keep the anniversary and get that one! Love the color and wheels.

I'm planning to check out the 2015 ecoboosts for my wife when they are on lots, see how it compares to the mk7 GTI we're waiting for now.

Svtfreak I still wanna see that anniversary edition when it comes in!

Hearing really good things about the ecobeasts.

I'll let you know when it (finally) comes in

my brother drove one in atlanta at a demo show. he said, quote, "the torque was as incredible as the sound was awful."

I suspect aftermarket boost mods will make the ecoboosts serious red light warriors. Of course their reliability is something else to ponder. Personally, I'd rather have the v6. Part of driving the mustang to me is the feel and sound, and the 6 is definitely not the 8, but it isn't the weed-eater on steroids either.

Going only by reviews, the verdict is that boost lag is almost non existent. 4cyl mustangs beating 400hp challengers. It's real people.

The 84-85 mustang , 2.3 liter turbo, had 175 hp factory. Raise the the boost to 18lbs, add and intercooler & increase fuel pressure and you were in the 250 range.

The 86 Sierra rs500 had the ford/cosworth 2.0 turbo. In race form it produced 500 plus horsepower

I can't wait to see what tuners such as cosworth and motune, will get out of the 2.3 direct injection turbo in the newest stang. Im willing to bet, it will shock many v8 owners, of various manufacturers.

Lund tested one did 233 whp stock. They tuned it and got 322. 500 may be possible with down pipe and airflow mods

Yeah but it won't any match for modded v8's. There is still no replacement for displacement.

Svt that's 322 rwhp without opening the engine up? If so that's 370-420 hp at the crank (15-25 percent drivetrain loss). I'm no engineer and I'm stating hypothetically.
The 2.3 ecoboost with bolt ons, ( increased boost, tuned engine management, intercooler, header, & 3 inch exhaust, would give a coyote with only bolt ons a run for its money. Reflect on 6 cylinder turbo supras, or grand nationals. Bolt - ons allowed them to beat many a modded, normally aspirated v8.

Ummm, unmodded Coyotes are doing 375-390 (as high as 402). Tune only (only saw one so far with new engine) 15's look to be 415. Basic bolt ons will only go up. Ecobeasts are impressive, but they better bring more than that to be competitive with the modded coyote (like I said)

My 9# boosted 11 coyote does 585 whp. The new one is expected to do about 620 whp at same boost (it's still early to tell) with comparable tune. Basic bolt on ones have done 450 whp. The little four banger is impressive but still missing two cylinders to compare to the turbo dyno queens like supras.

Again I'll say, there's no replacement for displacement. It's the old "I can mod and beat x car" but he can mod too and still be ahead.

My Focus ST (Ecoboost) can run on 87 or 93. It automagically detunes itself for 87.
I prefer to run 93 no ethanol.

You would lose about 13% hp running 87.

Ethanol versus non doesn't matter. Your mileage would be worse but the extra cost for non maybe isn't worth it. Self vented systems designed for ethanol added gas, it's perfectly safe to use. Tuners even suggest using good quality ethanol fuel over low quality non.

I've seen ' 15's running around town, but shreveport oddly has some nice vehicles compared to other areas. Turtle on a fence post. Probably because Dallas and casinos.

My 71 el Camino with big block is not scared for thosr motors; they will, progably make a good, strarter motor

Danny, no offense, but there is a reason they don't build then like they used to. I love old cars and pushrod motors with a passion, but their days are passed. Now, cars make much more horsepower with much higher efficiency (mine makes 585 whp and gets 25 mpg highway and 18-19 city!) with less noise in cars that can put the power down more effectively.

It took years to get over emmisions and learn how to do it, but the horsepower war we are living through today blows away the late 60's and early seventies.

That's funny cause my new technology loves to show up huffed big blocks in 3700# tanks too.

No matter how fast you are, there's always someone faster, technology or not.

Fwiw, I've got old iron also.

Now that we off topic, let's get back on. There's other threads for people who refuse to let go of the past, or think 4 cylinders are the way to go, etc.
