I got this from Doug Bowser of the SW Mississippi Gun Club concerning the AP ammo:
I am sending this email to the members of the MSFOA and the SGC.
The CMP is selling corrosive .30-06 AP ammo made from 1939 to 1950's. Their info is shown below. I would personally never fore any corrosive ammuntion from the 1940's. Some ammo at that time has Fulminate of Mercury in the priming formula. It can deteriorate brass over time and cause a catastrophic failure of the cartridge case. Also, when fired, corrsive primed brass can keep some of the corrosive properties of the original firing and if the ammo is reloaded the subsiquent firing can still cause rusting in the rifle barrel.
The Kynoch .30-06 ammo was a big problem in 1960. I remember 2 1903 rifles that were blown up using Kynoch .30-06 ball in them.
