So you have access Larson Davis or B&K with a 1/4" pressure mic? Because there are only a few meters on the planet that can accurately gauge that short of an impulse noise.
Also ammo selection has much more to do with group consistency, velocity consistency, than it does with sound because all of the quality ammo's are going the same speed within reason. Outside of the Rem 220gr which on some days goes supersonic still.
Other thing to take into consideration if you are going to meter ammo is what barrel length because depending on powder loads some ammo may or may not produce more muzzle pressure in a given barrel. So one type of ammo may be fantastic with your gun, gas setup, and buffer weights but be negatively impacted by someone elses weapon setup.
