I was tinkering with things I had I my truck today and discovered this. The pictures show the tread protector from my savage 93R17 and fired v un fired Lake City 175 gr OTM .308 ammo. I checked a couple other brands I have... Same thing. Since I've started using a suppressor with my LR-308 I occasionally get a case that doesn't eject well...

Is this normal? Thoughts, comments, concerns?

I have seen that on factory chambers.
Also have seen brass shot out of a factory chambered rifle, that even after full length sized, would not fit in a match chamber. Now that was not sized with a small base die. A small base die may help you on your lr308.

I marry brass to a rifle, never shooting brass shot out of one in another.

It's a Bartlein barrel with a match chamber, properly headspaced etc.

    I don't reload.

I just checked some virgin .308 lapua brass vs same fired.
Measured up .900 from the base of the cartridge.
New brass was .4595". Fired was .4610".
Difference of .0015". Not huge but definitely could make your thread protector not slide down it.
Guess it fire forms to the chamber and springs back a bit because I have no issues clambering a fired piece of brass.
