I recently purchased a S&W performance center 44. mag hunter, and i HATE the red dot.
I have a S&W .500 with a nikon scope and rings, and the first shot with a 460 grain bullet literally moved the gun right out from under the scope, (scoped moved half an inch in rings).
The scope was installed properly but the recoil was too much.
My question is, what would be a good scope, With easy sight picture, and good rings that will hold in place on the .44 shooting standard loads.

Shooting inside and up to 50 yds., 2x Leupold
Shooting up to 100 yds., 4x Leupold

    Target shooting, Bushnell Trophy 2-6...

Mount all with the turrent touching the front ring.

I use Leupold double dovetail base/rings on my contenders...

+1 on the Leupold 2x. One of favorite handgun scopes too for shorter ranges. Don't know if your gun will accept additional rings but on T/C's and other heavy recoiling handguns it's common to use 3 or even 4 scope rings. Lapping the rings for better contact is a good idea too.

How many rings are on the 500 scope?

You need 3, 4 if you can squeeze em on the mount.

I've got a Nikon Encore 2.5-8x28mm on my 460 and it's never moved.
