8-40 Scope Base

Have new rifle on the way, Rem Model 700 Long action. It has 8-40 holes for the scope bases. My goal is to use base/ring combo that will put the scope as low to the receiver as possible, so +20 moa bases, etc, are out. I am aware of the Talley's, any other suggestions that come ready to use without modification ?

If my math is correct then for a 4" rail it would only be .023" thicker in the rear than the front for a 20 MOA rail. Not sure as to why you would rule them out. As far as bases I prefer 1 piece from NightForce. You can get EDM rails for cheaper. I defenately would go with some picatinny style.
