The CZ82 is a bit smoother only because of the added weight. The mak seems to fit my hand better than the CZ82. The CZ has a double stack 12 round mag where the Mak has a single stack 8 round mag. I'm not sure about the Mak but I know there are .380acp barrels out there for the CZ82 and the mags for 9x18 will interchange with the .380acp without any changes.

The CZ82 is a more modern design than the Makarov which is a loose copy of a German Walther designed in the 1920's. The CZ was designed in the late 1970's to early 1980's and has better geometry in the action to give it a excellent DA pull.

I have shot both, and own the CZ. If I had to do it over again and choose. I would get another CZ.

There are .380 makarovs so I would assume someone has barrels for them. I've owned three makarovs and really like them although I think the CZ82 has several extra features that makes them "better".

I'd go with the CZ82 but I may be biased just a little.....

Just go ahead and get one or two of each to be on the safe side. I like mine, even the P-64.
