There’s also the option of simply turning a key to render the pistol inoperable. In this mode, the pistol is secured and cannot be fired or cocked – even the gun's manual safety can’t be disengaged.

No matter how large the internet, television, and paper literature get, people will still believe word of mouth as truth. If you ever see the guys in Academy staring hard at the different ammunition brands, ask them what they are looking for. The **** they say will have you rolling on the floor.

The latest and greatest was the lady that I asked and she told me she was looking for "revolver bullets."

It is always interesting conversation on that isle. I have saved a few people from buying the wrong ammo. The most common for me is informing someone that .45 Colt will not work in a 1911 or other .45ACP. These people are always thankful for the help since ammo is non-returnable.

Working at Academy you have no idea the headache I see on Ammo... People walking in wanting "bullitts"... one guy I asked if he needed help, said(in an angry tone), that we shouldn't carry the gun if we don't have the ammo (referring to .22lr), I said sir " its supply and demand right now demand is stretching supply, you wont see much 22lr in but it does show up" the idiot then proceeded to go off on how we should get 22lr in otherwise we shouldn't sell the guns... I wanted to stare him straight in the face and tell him " you are a F$#king idiot, that has no idea how the world operates, now go back home and hopefully you remember how to breathe", I was pretty pissed at peoples stupidity that day...

I don't have much doubt that the ban on M855 will pass. It's just too easy for them. I can even understand people wanting to panic buy it, considering it may be the last chance to purchase that crappy round. What bothers me is the people buying up all the OTHER .223/5.56 like a bunch of morons that couldn't be bothered with reading more than half of a Fox News headline. I've got plenty of ammo to get through any panic, but I feel for the average dude that can't grab a few boxes of completely-unrelated-to-any-ammo-ban plinking ammo to take his kid out to the range.

I worked three years at a New Orleans McDonald's while in high school and while waiting for boot camp. I had my fair share of getting blamed for things that were no fault of mine. It did help to get me ready for the Drill Instructors though!
I would have been tempted to tell the customer that you thought it would be hilarious to order the .22 guns, but not the ammo. "I just don't feel like ordering the .22 ammo, but you can still buy the Walther PPK/S in .22 anyway!"

I, for one, don't blame anyone for buying in quantity. Last week was 223 greentips.

If anybody thinks King Hussein is finished degrading our 2d amendment rights, then don't buy any more supplies. Then, there will be more for the rest of us.

There's more 2d amendment attacks to come in the next 2 years of the King's tyranny. Strap in, guys......more to come....

Some of you guys are truly amazing. . Why not get angry about this out of control federal government that seems to be thumbing it's nose at our laws and constitution on a daily basis? I don't have a problem with people buying ammo that may get banned or at least is under threat of a ban. Sure guys blame Fox news blame the guy that has to buy the ammo under the cloud of potential ban sure blame everyone except the real culprit.

Because there's already a thread or two regarding that. This is a related, but different part of the conversation.

I hear people say it's only one round that they are trying to ban. That is ridiculous to think that way. When will this end? It's only the start for more to come. If they are successful with this bullet being banned then they will move on to the next one. The liberals will continue to chip away at our gun rights. I for one am thankful for the couple of news outlets letting us know what is going on behind closed doors. The drive by media will not warn us or explain anything related to protecting our 2nd amendment rights. You can call it whatever you want, but when you lose some of your freedoms you don't get it back. These libs don't believe in liberty. I know I am tired of this crap where they make people feel scared about the things they want to take from us and cause them to go out and hoard everything they can get there paws on. This is not the way America use to be, but unfortunately it the new America. Another example is the net neutrality bill that the FCC passed and no one even has the ability to see what's in it. It's 302 pgs long and it's in effect. Next week they will release the bill to the public to be able to read it.

Remember Nancy Pelosi said you have to pass the bill to see what's in it. How is that working out for us? These people are evil, American hating, controlling ideologs and I don't trust them.

See post above mine for your answer.

And technically they aren't banning anything, just removing the exemption M855 is currently allowed under.

Sure split hairs over it. Only this round today. Tomorrow it'll be another and then another. All while we call each other names and rebuke the few news agency's that will even say anything. But hey it's only our rights, our government for the people.

TECHNICALLY... your "Rights" are to keep and bear arms... the founding fathers never actually identified what "ARMS" were... they certainly didn't outline "AR-15's" or even FIREARMS for that matter. Taking up arms could be a club... or an axe. So if you want to stay on the same track as other recent decisions (like the SIG brace), keep forcing them to identify in detail what they consider "ARMS" to be and watch what happens. You can own a weapon... but I didn't read anything about the ammunition... which, back in the day, a patch, powder and ball were not regulated or "manufactured" on a true assembly line for the public.

I didn't read anything about M855 in the constitution... and I ESPECIALLY didn't read anything about ALL 223 and 5.56 AMMO being banned. I saw another Jackass at Academy again this morning who had cleared the shelves of .223 ammo and was scurrying out the door. Hell, if I owned a gun shop, I would be buying up all of it just to capitalize on the panic that seems to be developing and then just turn around and resell it for twice as much when the prices skyrocket like they did with .22lr ammo.

I think you are on to something there. People keep poking the bear they might not like the reaction the get.

The Founding Fathers never actually identified a lot of things in the Constitution. I guess Washington & Co. when they crossed the Potomac had clubs and shovels in hand?

That argument of "AR-15s" or "Whatever the hell you want to ban" is not in the Constitution is the same crap argument that libtards use and have used. Thanks for supporting the rest of us! Ammunition and "Arms" goes hand in hand. Trying to say otherwise is just stupid.

You give them an inch, they'll take a yard and never give it back. Libtards/Commies/Progressives/Socialists fight tooth and nail for their beliefs. The other side, well they just shoot down each other and belittle one another saying, "Give them another inch, it'll be ok." F*#@ them. Make them fight for every damn thing.

No wonder this country is in the crapper.

Same could be said for people who post videos with the sigbrace or shooting exploding targets. The govt is probably thinking, give em an inch and they post stupid videos.
