A friend of mine bought a Bushmaster Optics Ready Carbine AR15. He added a red dot site to it. It has no front or rear iron sites. I know he can add a rear flip up iron site to his top rail but what can be done about adding a front one? thanks

Lots of people make sights specifically to mount on the front picatinny rail.

Here is just one example from YHM:

does the front have a regular gas block or a pic rail gas block?

if he has a railed forend he can get one of the shorter rail front sights to put on his handguard or if he has a pic rail gas block he can put the taller ones there.

he can also have that gas block removed and put on a pic rail gas block or a clamp on flip front sight.

Wow...it looks like Bushmaster also makes one with NO way to mount a front sight. Is this what your buddy has?

If so, he has to change out the gas block entirely and replace it with the front sight/gas block of his choice. Pretty lame on Bushy's part.

midlength FF rail that goes over that low profile gas block, front sight on the rail. That will give him a longer sight radius for his irons

Bushmaster sells a flip up front sight that clamps around the existing gas block on the ORC. I found it on Bushmasters web site in their catalog. Part number YHM-9360K. I called Yankee Hill and they told me they make it but only sell it through Bushmaster. I ordered it from Bushmaster and have it on my ORC.

YHM and others make a gas block/folding front sight that will replace the orginal gas block. Take your's off, slip this one on. Easy.
