I got five of those Hungarian mags from the group buy, while cleaning them up tonight, I was playing with the followers and found two that felt extremely light. I took the five mags apart and found that on the two I thought felt light had springs of less than half the length; 10 coils instead of the 22 coils in the other mags. Anyone think I might have a problem with these short, light springs?

That and I'm getting ready to paint these mags. What's the best/toughest paint to use on these? I don't want them to chip easily.

Hmmm...not sure about the spring issue. Sounds weird to me. I have ~20 different AK mags, and all have the same springs (around 20 coils sounds right). I'd say grab a couple new springs just to be safe.

As for paint, I would imagine just about anything will chip where the mag is inserted. I like high-temp engine paint though, seems to hold up to a lot of abuse. It's all in the prep work though...
