I do it about every 3-5 shots. This is not me, but how I do it. Last time on 7mm rum cases I counted to 7 Mississippi. Stop when it's blue. You don't want to turn red. Get some old cases to practice on first. It's easy.
usually after 4 or 5 firings.
Giraud annealing machine and set it with 750 degree templaq paint in the neck.
Quite a few have asked me about it. Here is a vid I made showing how it works.
I'm going to have to move close to Mickey so I can go over and "borrow" the use of all his cool toys. I had just finished reading a post about that annealer. The guy was describing how it worked and I couldn't get a picture of it in my mind. Now that I understand how it works I can ask a question. Can you change the amount of time the case is in the flame? Something like that is way down the list of "gotta haves" for me but a man can dream.
I anneal after every firing. It's not necessary to do it that often but I shoot single shots almost exclusively and my schedule these days is such that I have a lot more reloading time than shooting time so it's just part of the process. +1 on the tempilaq. 95% of the videos on youtube are worthless. Use tempilaq to get the temp right.
I agree with you 110%!
There are alot of "how to" vids on you tube that are really examples of how not to anneal brass.
If it glows, you just made it too soft.
