AR-15 + vice

Going to install my PRI gas block this weekend, but I don't have a vice block for my upper. I'm worried I'm not going to have enough meat to get the FSB off without putting it in a vice. I know I should use a vice block, but what is the best way to use wood to mount the upper in a vice?
