Finally got the AR 9 built. Easily the most fun and cheapest to shoot in the ar platform

    Vortex sparc II-$200
    Joe bob Spartan glock lower-$150
    Joe bob Spartan upper-$100
    Magpul k2 (polymer) grip-$20
    Milspec trigger assembly-$50
    Extended takedown pins-$15
    QD back plate-$15
    Shockwave stabilizer blade-$95
    Jp silent captured spring(9mm)-$155
    New frontier modular 9mm bcg-$150
    New frontier armory 4" barrel-$100
    Yankee hill flash suppressor(1/2x36)-$20
Guntec usa 4" key mod handguard-$80
    Mil spec charging handle-$15

Had a couple issues making the BCG work with the silent capture spring. Just milled out the back of the BCG for the guide rod on the spring to pass through. I recommend the JP BCG. Still plan on putting a CMC flat single stage 3.5 pound trigger, 45° ambi safety, and possibly a TROS 3 lug adapter to QD a suppressor. After three runs to precision firearms in Baton Rouge to test, i was consistently getting .5" groups at 25 yrds. 20160122_162735.jpg14541769198731418768241.jpg

how do you like the lower? There is a sale on their billet lower for 130, kinda hard to beat a billet lower for a little more than a spikes forged lower. Looks good btw. But a 22lr AR is even cheaper and more fun also. I happen to have 2 CMC flat triggers, they are fun, but do not fit in every lower. I bought it for my 9mm AR but it was too wide.

22lr is fun to shoot and i was gunna go that route but thought that would be a dedicated toyand the ruger 10/22 is really hard to beat in 22lr. On the other hand the 9mm round can be used as a defensive load and much easier to reach out to 100yds over the glock 17 pistol. I had to adjust the ejector on the spartan 9mm lower but their basic ar lowers are great. It has all the feature of a mega arms, seekins, etc lower but at half the cost.

I was VERY close to picking up a few of the billet lowers, but then I read the reviews on their site, and decided against it. Biggest complaint was the side to side play between upper and lower.

Nice looking setup. Is the buffer tube more cosmetic than necessity in the 9mm configuration? Or will the bolt not cycle properly?

9mm bolts cycle through the buffer tube just like a 5.56 bolt carrier group. Just the bolt and carrier are all 1 peice. 22lr setups do not require a buffer tube. 9mm's will require some sort of spacer or longer 9mm buffer

Yea i got mixed messages on the proper buffer configuration so i decided to go with jp enterprises 9mm buffer. Ive had nothing great experiences with their products. I have their buffers in all my ar's

Well done, I'm going to be reviewing this thread when I'm working up a similar project.
