Are smoke grenades and grenade fuzes illegal?

I found a box of m18 smoke grenades and need to know if they are illegal to own as a civilian. I have done the cursory Google search and can find nothing but hearsay and assumptions, anyone here know for sure and have factual and tangible evidence. I am not looking for a shithouse lawyers opinion or what your cousin bubba told you, i need actual answers. I put in a call to the local ATF and had to provide them with everything short of a urine sample only to be told they would call me back, so if yall dont hear from me in a few days look me up at Club FED. Answers are appreciated.

I've seen smoke grenades sold online by legitemate retailers and I seem to remember grenade triggers, minus the shotgun primer and cannon fuse for sale at gun shows.

I see them for sale around 50-60 bucks each. I would think your fine it's not like it's really a grenade.

I know those granade fuzes are fun to stab into oranges and toss in middle of gaggles. Please follow up when ATF calls you back.

Still no call back from the ATF! While on the phone I had the pleasure of speaking to a hand full of individuals ranging from secretary/ receptionist up to a Tech. from the explosives dept. (about 5 people total). I am still in the dark as to weather these items are legal/ illegal, I even asked a buddy of mine who is the local CLEO and even he had no idea.... Bueller.......

Just don't do what one jackass did in NYC in the early 80s. He got his hands on some and decided to use them to reactivate the novelty dummy grenades you see at surplus stores and sell them on the street. Only one problem. You know how grenades have a delay between the spoon coming up and detonation? These smoke grenade detonators didn't...
