I'm obviously not in the law profession... BUT
Wouldn't this law, if passed, be null and void due to current state law?
Wasn’t Caddo one of the localities that the Sheriff unilaterally outlawed NFA items by refusing to sign off back on them when NFA’s needed a CLEO signature?
Why do Democrats (particularly southern democrats) compulsively feel the need to infringe on civil liberties?
No, Caddo & Bossier have been very NFA friendly at least for the last 30 years.
BTW, one individual on the Caddo parish commission puts forward to save "assault weapons ban" every year. It always dies.

Hey guys, there's a good reason to keep our eyes open for these municipal / parish level bans.
Even though state preemption laws would nullify them, these laws would still be on the books and would *immediately* go into effect if state preemption was ever overturned.
Some states have flirted with legislation that actually punishes municipalities for enacting gun control like this ... if you're talking to your legislators, you may mention it to them.

This is just a resolution to support an AWB. It doesn't actually ban anything. It implicitly acknowledges that the state preempts most local gun laws.
I wish I lived closer ... I'd come out to the next Parish Commission meeting and give the author(s) of this bill a hard time. That said, I'm guessing that it will die on the vine ... and we have bigger fights to prepare for.
