The Syracuse University graduate wounded in the Colorado theater shooting in July is appearing in a video advertisement advocating gun control
In the ad, Stephen Barton, who was the featured student speaker at SU's commencement in May, sits in an empty theater and says to the camera:
"This summer in a movie theater in Colorado I was shot in the face and neck. But I was lucky. In the next four years, 48,000 Americans won't be so lucky because they'll be murdered by guns in the next president's term."
The 30-second spot is timed for the first presidential debate Wednesday night between President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney. The debate will be in Denver, about 15 miles from where Barton was shot in Aurora, Colo.
