I am looking for a back up handgun, I carry a Glock 35 Gen 4 as my service weapon. I want something a little smaller that could serve as my back up weapon and an off duty weapon. Any recommendations

On duty: Baby Glock in a belly band under arm

Off duty: S&W J-frame in galco ankle glove or pocket

If I had to give up one of them, I would keep the J-frame.

I would take 10 rounds of .40 over 5 rounds of .38 in my backup gun.

kahr cm 40, flat easy to conceal, and stays at least with your 40 sw ammo, carry my cm 9 off duty daily, after carring for over 20 yrs this has been my most comfortable rig yet ,might there be something better for you, sure, shoot 120 with mine

Like others have said, since you have the 35 as a duty weapon, I'd go with either the 23 or 27 as well since they use the same rounds and you can use the larger mags in them as well. Just makes good sense. The only other gun I use to carry off duty was the PPKs.

Baby Glocks in an ankle rig are still pretty hefty pieces to tote around down there.

A lot of guys in my dept opt for something along the lines of the PM9, CM9, & PF9. Mags aren't the same, but the round is so if necessary you still have available ammo.
