If I am a passenger and the driver is pulled over for a traffic violation, does the driver have to inform the officer that I am carrying a handgun?

But if the officer talks to you... you have to tell him that you are carrying..

I could be wrong but I think if you have a CCW and are approached by an officer in an official capacity you have to let them know you are carrying..

At least thats the way I understand it..

That is correct. If the officer speaks to you directly you should inform him of your CCW status. I do so by handing over my permit without saying anything. When he sees it he will understand and give you further instructions.

Otherwise if he doesn't talk to you just keep your mouth shut.
