2nd to last paragraph explains why this is a bad idea. It won't pass.

*some states do thorough criminal background checks on applicants, while other states have such ineffective permitting systems that they inadvertently issue permits to felons."

How the hell is that going to happen if the fingerprints are sent to the FBI?

If gay marriage is going to be the law of the land and be forced on states (see Alabama controversy), this should be a slam dunk. But I refer to my post about ATF and the subversion of the US Constitution as an example of why you could/may be right.

But make no mistake, this should be the law of the land or the 2nd Amendment is not as resilient as it was meant to be.

And that's really the best picture they could find?

You mean, you don't carry your .410 Derringer in a classy satchel?

MOTOR has it right; This will be what kills it:

A new report from Everytown says that, *some states do thorough criminal background checks on applicants, while other states have such ineffective permitting systems that they inadvertently issue permits to felons."

Apparently in some states they can with a permit. Hence why it's not gonna pass.

    According to the Bloomberg anti-gunners.

I want to see some official unbiased statistics on this.
    How common is it?
How long before the state caught the error and what was done when they found out?
How old was the felony? What was it for?
    etc.

No where near enough information in that statement to even know if it's an issue.

The ATF can play an important role in gay marriage. The "Defense of Marriage" Act should have been a bill to give every ATF SAC the power to marry same sex couples and get them trained in the proper use of firearms. The newlyweds would then be eligible for their CC permits and would be able to defend their marriage ever after. It can still be done, so write your Senators and Congressman NOW!

The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would allow gun owners who have a concealed carry permit in their home state to bring their firearms in any other state with concealed-carry laws.

A step in the right direction
