Boat motor repair

I have an older Mercury 40hp that I need to get some work done to. I think it's an 83' model but I'm not sure. I'd like to find someone that's on the forum or someone that's recommended by a forum member. I just want it fixed right so I can get back to fishing. Thanks for the help. It's a pluses if the mechanic is in the Baton Rouge area.

I"ve heard a lot of good things about Simon's Outboard in Gonzales..I have a few friends that will use him and nobody else. All of these dudes have Mercs too and I think thats what he works on mostly.

Cajun Outboards has does my work for a 115 Merc.
I've sent several friends there and all have been pleased.

Simons is supposed to be good. I've been fortunate enough to be able to do a lot of work on my motors myself. Found a place in Alabama that I can order all kinds of parts from for excellent prices.

Only problem now is most mechanics are so busy it takes 2 - 3 weeks to get your boat back.

I got a price for my Merc in Lafayette And labor was $95/hr. So to clean the carbs and river test was going to run me almost $400 in labor.

I brought it to Simon's about a month ago. Still waiting for them to get started on it. They said it would be this week.
