Anybody have experience with Boyd's stocks? Thinking about putting a thumbhole stock on my Winchester. The website states that the finished stocks require very little fitting, if any. Just curious to know what may be involved.
I bought a Boyd stock for my Marlin 795 rifle. The quality/appearance is top notch. However they cheaped out and made one stock fit the Model 60 and 795. That meant for a 60 you had to notch out for the mag tube, and for the 795 you had to lengthen the recess in the bottom to fit the longer receiver and open up the magazine hole. However, I have NEVER done wood work and I spent two hours with a Dremel and my set of chisels and fitted it up. The gun functions great and you can't tell a wood working moron did all the work, lol.
Thanks. I spoke with a guy yesterday and he said the same. Said it's pretty straight forward and obvious what needs to be done. Think I'll pull the trigger on it after deer season.
