    I'm not trying to sound like such a newb. I just wanna be completely sure before I start carrying so I dont run into any problems like that. My truck is close quarters and unless its in the glovebox my gun will be within reach.

    I got pulled over this past summer on I-12 heading back to Maurepas. They caught me with that damned airplane and stopwatch, which isn't fair at all, but that isn't the point.

    I had my 1911 on my hip and my AR on the back seat of my truck, not in a case. When I pulled over, I turned off the truck and put my keys on the dash. I kept my hands on the wheel. When the officer approached me, I informed him that I was a CCW permit holder and had my pistol on my hip. He thanked me for telling him and asked me to put it on the passenger side seat and get out of the truck. Everything went well and I wasn't even asked about the AR. I did get a ticket for 85 in a 70, though.

    When dealing with cops, just be nice. It really is that simple. :)

    Oh, and those damn airplane speed traps should be banned! It is an unfair advantage! They should have to catch me fair and square! :D

    how bout this twist... when i'm on the roads, mine is either sticking up between the 40-20-40 split bench seat, or in the door pocket.

    what then?

    **edit: I dont have a CCW

    You do not need a CCW permit to carry in your vehicle. I would recommend that you do as described above. The State of Louisiana considers your vehicle as part of your home.

    I would suggest jumping out of the truck and running in circles yelling ...

    "I have a gun ...... I have a gun......."

    Or not....:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    OK.. Maybe the hands on the steering wheel thing is better advice....

    Thanks for the only rational response following my post. :doh:

    I am aware that it is within my rights to carry vehicle, as I have been since I purchased it. But I've been a little apprehensive of how a traffic-stop might pan out. Thankfully, I haven't had that become a realization. *knocks on wood*

    I figure they may want to control the weapon for safety, so I immediately jump out with it in my hand and hold it up so that he can see I am bringing it to him. I wouldn't want him to get the wrong idea, so I usually also yell "Take this, Copper!"
