We are definitely moving towards less cash, but so long as there's still actual currency in circulation, can we actually be cashless?

I'm more of the hybrid, I like earning CC points, but also like using cash to tips and small mom and pop businesses.

Already being used by financial institutions (public/ private partnerships) in the form of ESG scores for businesses in the US. The government has found the perfect way to make an end run around the Constitution by having big business do the things that the Constitution prohibits them from doing.
    Exactly. The definition of Fascism

Talk on WWL radio yesterday (Financial show), says Govt. going to start taxing Credit Card perks, like points, etc. I use my CC points to earn gas gift cards (Shell, Texaco, etc) and save them for my annual hunting trip out West. I guess I have to start paying taxes on that too. I pay taxes when I buy merchandise/groceries with the CC, pay gas taxes when I buy gas with said gift card. Now I have to worry about paying taxes on the perks. I guess they're giving our tax money away so fast they can't keep up.

I have never been in a poker game that accepted Venmo or PayPal. Online poker isn’t legal for most of the country, or legit for that matter.

Cash will be with us a while longer.

I remember in the 7th grade 1979 looking at a picture in a paperback book of a big glass building I believe it was called “the beast”.. It was supposed to be the big hub for computers I guess for the coming paperless money society. Mark if the beast type of stuff. I can still see it but I wish I could remember what the book was called. I have to admit I’m more that 90% there already. I use plastic for just about everything. Points and convenience is the trap. I feel for the elderly who have to navigate the modern world without an advocate to help them. I’m on the verge of being one so….I believe the frog is just about boiling on the paperless plan. The Mark is real and choices will have to be made.

At least until merchants no longer accept it because they can’t deposit it anywhere.

When Colorado legalized recreational weed, the businesses had trouble getting accounts at FDIC insured banks. The banks were and still are worried about having a client whose income comes from an activity that is against federal law. So most of those businesses either find a bank that may not be federally insured or they deal with a lot of cash.

The Late Great Planet Earth (copyright 1970) or one of Hal Lindsey’s other books.
You can still find copies on Amazon or eBay. It’s amazing at how much of his books’ predictions have come to pass.
Although, considering the basis for his books, it should be no surprise.
