I really like my 13 Fishing Oman Black rod. It is a 7'3" MH that is 129.99. They have a 6'7" and 7'1" version for 99.99 and 109.99 respectively. Have heard really good things about the new Dobyns Fury. They have a 6'6" and 7' MH for 109.99. They are back-ordered on Tacklewarehouse.com until the 16th.
I've got a couple AllStar and a Falcon Lowrider on 200 Calcuttas.
My Falcon is the first one I pick up, but the AllStars are absolutely capable of doing the job.
Sent via telegraph with the same fingers I use to sip whiskey.
I use Ugly sticks one piece for MH on my casting rods. Pretty much use this for Reds or summer speckles where they are running large along the coast. For the rest of the time on specs I have a Falcon ML with a Shimano Symetre. I am going to try the All Star rods from Academy. My little brother who goes out a good bit in Plaquemines and St. Bernard swears by them and says they are the best buy for the money.
Mojo Bass in that price range, best rod period, the Shimano's Clarus around 70$, are nice, the Sellus worm and jig holds my Curado, great rod for 60 bucks. Falcon HD series are awesome for 70$ for a quality rod . I fish professionally. I have several 40-70 dollar rods that fish very well. The New GLoomis EX6 inshore series is incredible if you want to invest 200 bucks.
watched one of my clients fight a 20 lbs Blackfin tuna on one,...the rod was pointed at the sky, the rod tip was pointed at the water....for about 45 minutes......
i enjoy the Abu Garcia "vendetta" (white). they cast really well and they are really well made for the price i believe you can pick them up for less then $40 pretty much anywhere. only issue i had with them is i broke two pulling fish out of heavy cover with braided line but that is the sacrifice you make for great sensitivity
Academy used to sell a combo Curado with the All Star rod. I got one about 10 yrs ago and it became the first bait cast set up that I really felt comfortable with, esp with strong winds.
start with mono, move up to braid, biggest headache is getting it set up right. The I series Curado's make it a lot easier, there are a ton of descent video's that help, after you get the feel for it you'll never grab a spinner first again.
