Sorry if this has been brought up before. I did a search and didn't find anything.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if Academy in Lafayette has a No Firearms sign posted? Seems I was there awhile back and may have seen one. I plan to go tomorrow and will be carrying concealed. I guess I can just show up and see for myself, huh? LOL

I carry in Academy in Baton Rouge all the time. They are pretty "friendly" to permit holders as far as I know. I have also never been caught carrying in Academy so there is that too.

I work for Academy in Baton Rouge. Academy is a gun friendly store, and it should be posted on the doors that Academy approves of and welcomes any form of legal carry (at least it is at our store). You are good to go.

Academy was bought out recently, policy could change.

Eitherway Academy currently DOES NOT employ "Firearms Free Zone" signs on their doors ;)

I've carried openly -and- concealed at Academy.. not a second look usually, unless it's someone trying to figure out what gun I got on me when I'm open carrying... which I really don't do anymore anyways.

I figure a lot of the times a store might have it up there for insurance purposes, and not really actually mean it. I've known various policies to be like that with businesses I know the owner of, or have heard it from owners who are very openly opposed to the policy they have to put a sign up for.

Last couple times I've bought ammo they had to walk me to the register with it, I suppose out of fear that I might open the box and start throwing rounds at people.

I enjoy the custodial walk. I usually grab the hand of the escorting employee with one of my hands and swing the other over my head like an ape.

I remember being handed a paper with academy's firearm policy a couple of years ago. It was basicaly that academy follows local laws about firearm carry. Basically if it is legal in the state/parish it is legal in the store.

Funny thing, not but two days ago several managers and i were discussing the policy and they decided that if a customer is bringing in a firearm and needs to have work done to it, or to fit a holster that an associate will handle the firearm. Any defensive (concealed carry OR open cary) firearm it to remain in the customers possession.

I wish I knew where to look to find the official policy. Maby I will ask a manager when I go back in for work to get me a copy so i can post it here.

Let's see: "Academy & WalMart" are NOT where to buy guns or ammo.

Please see advertisers & sponsors here on B-S. That IS where to buy guns & ammo !

When will some folks ever learn ?

    Concealed means concealed!

This along with a few other phrases like "Shoot to kill" "A dead man can't talk" and other stupid cliches that many people in the gun community love to drop in every conversation about guns really **** me off. That is the kind of **** that people who are not so gun friendly use against us to show that we aren't law abiding citizens and we try to cheat the system.

I really wish things like "concealed means concealed" would be dropped from every CHP holder's vocabulary. It's not a cool thing to say, it's not a cool thing to do. It's basically a way to tell someone to illegally carry without just saying "Hey man, f*ck the laws, just carry anyway and make sure no one sees it." Seriously. That **** is retarded.
