CHP renewal class

I am going to be taking my first renewal class coming up in a couple of weeks and was wondering what all was different, if anything, about the class from a new to renewal stand point. I know that the requirements on the application are different in regards to things like fingerprints, just wondering what, if any, differences were in the classes.

Nothing, you're just taking the same class again as a refresher. Some instructors may allow you to come for half of the time so you can skip the basics. But it's a refresher. If I may make a recommendation - try a different instructor than who taught you your first class. Getting a different perspective is always helpful.

Correct. Per LAC 55:I:1307.D.4

Well, since the first lifetime permits were issued on August 1, 2013, we still have 2 years to find out.

The 4 times I've renewed it was just shorter classes.
