While at Camp Perry last week I spent some time at the Gary Anderson Competition Center. It was my first time to shoot in such a facility. It is an indoor air gun range with eighty 10 meter firing positions for rifle and pistol. Each firing point is equipped with MegaLink electronic targets. All shots fired are instantly displayed on the monitors beside each shooter and on display screens visible to spectators in the center of the range. All firing is controlled by computer operations center In the middle of the range. It reminded me of the scoring system used by bowling centers.
I used an AiR-15 match rifle. This is an AR styled rifle built around an Anschutz 8001 barreled action. I also fired another type of AR air rifle upper assembly that fitted to my AR match lower assembly. I wish there was such a shooting facility closer to home. I entered a twenty-shot off hand match and finished with a score of 188-3X. Not too bad, if only I had not put that one shot into the eight-ring.
