Colt 1911 double recoil spring in other 1911 pistols?

I briefly owned a COLT "Competition Model" 1911 that used dual recoil springs and when I sold it, I held onto a brand new spare set of springs that came with it. Are there any advantages to that setup, from a longevity standpoint or otherwise? Should I try them in my Kimber TLE-II (having no issues) or leave well enough alone?

I hear ya, then again why would the original manufacturer COLT adapt that dual-recoil-spring approach unless it had some advantage?

For 104 yrs the original spring design worked as intended. From what I gather it's only benefit is to extend spring life.

Toss the colt springs and buy sprinco springs that are the correct weight for your pistol.
