What size pot can handle a whole sack of crawfish(36-37 lbs)? Is an 80 qt sufficient, or would a 100 qt be overkill? I know you need to make sure the basket fills the pot as much as possible(some baskets are smaller than others). Also some are made cheaper than others...who makes a quality pot? Thanks.

I have gotten by with an 80 qt. pot for a sack and "fixins" (sausage, corn, potatoes, mushrooms), but it is at its limit. If I were buying a new pot I would definitely get a 100 qt. pot.

Get the 100 qt, just makes it easier to throw some extras in there on a whim without boiling over. That's a mess.

350 lbs boiled in Dallas today. It is sad to see how many crawfish were destroyed in the named of uneducated people who can't peel crawfish to save their life.

80-100 is what i have always used for boiling.
Now my dad used to cook for the church, and go out and feed the homeless in New Orleans all the time.
He used a 120Qt to cook in and I let him use the 60 I had for rice. I ended up donating the 60 as it was to small for anything other than shrimp boils.
He always made stews, gumbo.s ect that was ok price wise for large amounts and needed rice.
I used my 80 for crawfish sacks plenty before i got larger
