Yes, you read that correctly! ARREST for EMPTY bullet casings!

I am beyond DISGUSTED with these anti-gun law states!

Police in Washington, a city known for its tough anti-gun laws, has a little-known law that enables police to arrest non-residents caught carrying a spent bullet or shotgun casing that can result in a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The Washington Examiner, citing a new book by Emily Miller called "Emily Gets Her Gun…But Obama Wants to Take Yours," points out that these spent shell casings are considered ammunition, hence illegal to possess "unless you are a resident and have a gun registration certificate."

The report describes an Army Specialist who almost lost his job due to a 2011 arrest when he accidentally carried a handful of bullets, no gun, in his backpack to a meeting at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

What about in your vehicle? I know there are loose bullets in a couple of my vehicle and guaranteed to be shell casings in the back of any truck around here.

That's the way it is at the Chalmette Exxon refinery. I've also seen guys take a 5 days suspension for having a baseball bat in the front cab, with no ball, gloves, cleats, etc. Basically, if the security officer that day decides its a weapon, and you can't reasonably argue that it exists for other purposes, they send you home.

I did not think that your employer could discipline you for having a legally owned firearm inside your personal vehicle while on company property?

That only applies if they don't provide fenced parking areas with security.

    Correct.

Louisiana Senate Bill 51 allows Louisiana citizens to bring their firearms to work, provided they are secured in their vehicles. The refineries have "countered" this by designating a "Firearms Parking Lot".

At the Chalmette site, the "SB51 Parking Area" is about an 800 yard walk. The regular, general parking area is about 100 yards. Security's justification for the long distance they chose is a "cool down". They claim that irate employees would have a loooong walk to calm down, and if that wasn't successful, the log walk gives security time to react, prior to irate employees accessing their firearms.

The reality is they're trying to discourage the practice. The ExxonMobil employee firearms parking is no where near as inconveniencing. It's only about 10-15 yards further than general employee parking.

Yea, because someone coming in with the intent of shooting up the place is going to make sure they park in the accurate parking lot for their possessions...

I highly recommend Emily Miller's book, "Emily Gets Her Gun…But Obama Wants to Take Yours," to open your eyes as to how good we have it here and what things COULD come to for 2nd amendment rights if we are not careful.

I read most of her articles from her newspaper column and it is shocking how hard they make it to get a firearm in some areas.

    BUY HER BOOK!
