I hunt out of a kayak. Works just fine.
I know guys that hunt sabine reserve with a canoe and kill more than the cats with 100 billion horse power mud drives and such.
Its all about experience.
I like 2 3/4" #6 shot...believe it.
Also I know you already bought a 870 for "big" shells...I like 2 3/4" #6 shot...believe it.
+1 on All of the above!
We used to do the whole run around with boats and decoys throughout Red River and other WMA's but man that's Hard Work.
I hear you on the #6's but I load #4 in the chamber and back up with 2's.
I hunt with guys who swear by 6's.
Unless they have perfected heavier steel or some other metal that is approved, #6 steel just doesn't pull them down like 3" mag #4's. Teal all day, but high circling mallards or grays at the end of the season?
Now if you mean lead #6's; Hell yeah!
I have never been duck hunting and would love to go. I don't have a place of my own unfortunately. I also don't have much money for a guided hunt. Would anyone on here like to take a newbie on a trip? I don't mind buying our shells. Pitching in on gas or anything else. I would just really like to go before the season is up.
