Its amazing how few of these Axis planes are around today....like compared to Allied planes. I've seen pics of the Allies destroying planes that weren't deemed important enough to bring back home for research..sad now that we look back on it. All of those planes were just "plane" beautiful and classic, whether Axis or Allied and would have loved to hear what they sounded like-turbocharged, supercharged, etc. Best collection of Axis planes are at the Smithsonian in DC and at Dulles airport where they have the Ugvar-somethingorother museum associated with the Air and Space museum. Gotta go there if your a plane enthusiast like me!!

That was a B-29 . The APU caught fire while it was being taxied and it burned to the ground .There was a zero flying at the last air show I went to. So few left... Very cool to see.
I spent an hour+ glued to the TV a few years ago watching a history channel special. They found a B25 (IIRC) frozen in the ice that had crash landed in Greenland. They dug it out one summer, flew in parts, specialist, worked and worked. Finally got it able to fly out, did some test runs. Unfortunately, it caught on fire on takeoff Well worth watching though.
