I have the upmost respect folks who become doctors and nurses because it's often a thankless job, but would you really say that there aren't a bunch of slackers in the job like there are in most other industries or fields?

I'm not hating on doctors or nurses. My main point is that solely because *some* doctors and *some* nurses don't recommend the vaccine is not a good reason to not get it. Most nurses are not experts in viruses or how vaccines work. Most doctors are not either.

I don't know which field you work in specifically. Did you mention ICU at one point? Maybe in the ICU they only get the best and the brightest. I'd hope that's the case.

My point is that we should listen to a virologist over an orthopedist or a general physician when it comes to things like vaccines.

On the flip side, I'd rather have a paramedic at my side for many things than a radiologist. People specialize in things for a reason and I'd rather listen to specialists than X% of doctors, nurses, or etc.

You know I've been tempted to get vax'd and I've stopped and asked myself what is the reason for not doing so and it is a little confusing. I really had to stop and think what is preventing me from being vax'd and the only thing I can come up with is this - "I DON"T TRUST THE M'FERS THAT ARE DEMANDING THAT I DO SO!"

This whole thing is F'D up! I have a son with Autism that I'm certain was caused by his shots when he was a 6,mos old baby!

I don't give a damn who believes that or not and I'm not looking to debate! The bottom line is this is AMERICA and we have rights in this country. We are free to choose!

If you weighed all the pros and cons and the only con is that you don't trust the ones who are demanding you get it, not getting it is childish. To not do something that you would otherwise do just because someone told you that you must do it is just an act of defiance. That is not an adult decision. And you are free to choose to be childish. It's your right. I can respect someone deciding they do not want it for health reasons or some other reason related to the vaccine itself. But credibility is lost when someone doesn't do something simply because someone else said to do it when they would have done it absent the demand.

What are the pros of getting the vaccine? I'm assuming you will say there are zero cons.

A high likelihood of not catching the virus

A high likelihood of not dying from the virus if you catch it.

really? I saw a report from Wales that said 1/3 of positive covid cases were from unvaccinated people.

What are the chances of someone dying due to covid without a vax vs. with a vax?

    https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7037e1.htm

Good read there with a lot of data.

At the end of the day there will be a statistical significance with each study, but all of the conclusively state, without question, that the vaccine is effective at a) preventing death from the virus and b) lowering the likelihood of catching the virus.

It's not magic. It's not a guarantee. Those with underlying conditions (obesity, diabetes, heart problems, and etc) will always be significantly more at risk of catching / dying from any disease: even with a vaccine.

I'm not saying there aren't cons to the vaccine. There certainly are. People have had side effects from it that have been on a scale of extremely mild (what I faced myself - muscle soreness at injection site) to near debilitating where they're out for days to weeks with flu-like symptoms.

The majority of the people fall closer to no symptoms than intense symptoms.

There have also been somewhat anecdotal studies and discussions around having long lasting side effects, though they are thus far not proven (as of my current understanding) and are true outliers.

It's everyone's decision to get it and I truthfully don't care if strangers on the internet or in person get it. I never took the virus very seriously and partied it up in multiple cities across the US and various countries all throughout 2020 and 2021, prior to receiving the vaccine. I am young and not at risk.

Now as I write this, I have known numerous people personally who have had their lives rocked by the virus, up to and including death. Really, most people won't die from it. But enough people who catch it will have lifelong lasting effects that could be near debilitating.

A close friends relatively young mother has it right now and has been on the verge of dying for nearly two weeks. She'll likely need to be on oxygen now for the rest of her life and she'll almost certainly die younger than she would have, otherwise. She won't get to meet some of her children's grandchildren.

Would the shot have prevented this? Almost certainly. Could she have had negative consequences from the vaccine? Possibly, but significantly less likely and almost certainly no where near as severe as the lifelong problems she will now face.

So, that's my risk assessment on the vaccine. Maybe it'll **** up my future children. Maybe. Most leading scientists don't think it will. My also young fiancé was very skeptical about getting it (as was I, initially), and she weighed the decision carefully before ultimately deciding to get it.

You must have missed the point I make about not trusting the people forcing it. I don't trust the people pushing it, selling it, developing it, or the hype about it's mortality rate. I believe it's been unleashed on us by an enemy of the country and I believe the deep state is using the event to further push an agenda. Basically more, MUCH MORE DIVISION AND SUSPISCION!

I know a handful of vaccinated people that evacuated to Florida for hurricane Ida and they all caught it and tested positive for Covid. All had mild symptoms but did test positive. Likewise I know a couple other folks that are not vaccinated and went to Florida and caught it tested positive and recovered no differently.

You don't trust any of the people pushing it, including the plethora of experts (doctors included) who state that it's a good thing?

So, an enemy of the country makes a virus that can cause some pretty bad things to happen to you if you catch it. And then in response, our country develops a vaccine that greatly reduces the likelihood of said bad things happening. What's your problem again?

Also, what benefit does China have to unleashing COVID on its own people and the world? It seemingly hurt their economy pretty bad? They had pretty rough lockdowns and had deaths of their own.

What's the agenda that the "deep state" is pushing by getting folks vaccinated? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm genuinely curious as to what you're trying to state.

Most people who catch the virus won't be severely ill, vaccine or no vaccine. That's a given.

The vaccine is statistically proven at this point to greatly lower the chances of catching the virus. Knowing someone that caught covid who received the vaccine doesn't detract from this.

The vaccine is also statistically proven to greatly reduce the likelihood of having a severe case of the 'Rona that results in death or lifelong consequences.

Your argument is akin to this path, below:
A: Seatbelts are effective at preventing death in car wrecks.

B: No they're not! I know someone who got in a car wreck and died, and they were wearing their seat belt! Also, I know people who got in car wrecks who weren't wearing seatbelts, and they didn't die, so it's obvious that seatbelts just don't matter!

    Does that make sense?

This is being used as nothing more than a way to divide the people. It's just another method.

I'm not surprised by the amount of people that are wiling to trade freedom for security. This whole thing is nothing more than prepping and conditioning the masses.

Now the people that took the bait want everyone else to take the bait. It's typical, and the people that put this whole thing into motion knows it.

Why is it no one gets mad when you don't take the flu shot? The Flu is deadlier! This virus, they say, is more contagious and lays dormant for days or even weeks, and I say ********! Get next to someone that has it and watch how fast you develop symptoms. People have been fed a line and they took it. The scientist are saying now natural immunity is the best prevention.

I've noticed no one getting sick now has no other sickness except Covid. That's remarkable! Covid19 cured all other diseases and viruses.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this whole issue is meant to divide and conquer. I fully understand the pro's and con's of the vaccine. I don't want it! It's my right not to take it, and we used to live in a country that respected those rights. The rights of the individual! If you take the vaccine and I don't, and you're more likely than I to survive, then what's the beef?

I don't take flu vaccines either so what's the point?

    It's a matter of choice.

Those same people developed Oxycodone and said that it was a non addictive miracle drug! Look what happened there.

What about that pathological liar Anthony Fuachi? Nothing that came out of his mouth had a scintilla of truth. Look guys you can do what you want, believe what you want, but how about letting me follow my instincts and beliefs.

Keep drinking the cool-aid, it's your right.

There are millions of people on both sides of the issue. So if those millions of enlightened individuals are vaccinated and protected then what the hell do they care if the millions of mouth breathers that don't get vaccinated get sick and die off?

I really don't understand because the virus is not going to suddenly disappear because all roughly 350 million people in the USA get vaccinated.
