glenfeild model 30 golden 50

hey guys, I picked up a glenfeild model 30 30/30 "golden 50" edition with a nice scope from a pawn shop the other day for 350. I figured it was a good price. its in perfect shape ,gold trigger,yellowish birch stocks,with afull magazine.

I know its a marlin 336 made under a diff name, but does anyone have any more info about this rifle. year made maybe?

You bought a great rifle. It is a 100% true Marlin and nearly identical to the 336 with the exception of the stock and some cosmetic differences. The model 30 was manufactured from 1966 - 1972. According to the following information your rifle was made in 1972.

"The "Golden 50" was a name put on many Marlins in 1972 indicating the 50th anniversary of the present owners, the Kenna family."

Now go out and put some lead through it!

awesome, imo the older made 30/30s were a lil better than newer ones.i have the serial number if anyone has a way to track it.

Post the first three letter/numerals of the serial.

Your serial number (270xxx) indicates that your rifle was stamped in 1973. On many older Marlins you can subtract the first two numbers of the serial from 100 to know the year of production.

100-27 = 73 or 1973.

Your rifle was more than likely made in late 1972 but was not stamped until 1973. Enjoy!
