... ive never seen one like this i was army for 3 years . any light on what this is

I had read somewhere, that it might have been a steath-ish version of the Blackhawk, that was being worked on a few years back.
I don't know if there's any truth to that or not. I don't see a true steath helo being possible due to the rotors, but they could reduce it's heat & noise signature, as well as the radar signature of the chopper body.

    EDIT:
I just found this from the Army Times.

It looked to me like the same techno behind the Comanche except it was used on a Troop Carrier.

If it was that secret I can guarantee you that they would have blown it to hell before making an exit.....

They did blow it in-place the problem was that it was DARK and the HELO was spread out all over the compound. This tail piece wasn't seen or they would have thrown some C4 on it too.

Eurocopter and others have been working on "morphing" blade designs aimed at reducing sound signature. Helicopters have the ability to be much quieter once they start pumping money into blade design. Engine noise isnt all that great, rotor, and especially tailrotor noise is extremely loud, especially tip noise, that is why you see fenstrom tailrotors now.

What ever happened to the Notars?
Were they less effecient than regular tail rotor designs?
Seems like it would be more stealthy, as long as it wasn't pushing out hot air.
