As it appears the river will finally be down, this weekend (April 2-3) there is a scheduled cleanup of the range after the flooding with the plan to re-open the range the following weekend (April 8-10).
Water is still over the bridge and out of it's banks as of Saturday afternoon. One of our RO's was out there today and said the gate was still locked to the road leading back to the range. He walked back and said the road was okay but he posted a photo in his email showing water still running hard over the bridge and the parking lot. So no cleanup detail this weekend. Plans are now for Monday morning and I would imagine through the week until we get it cleaned up and ready for use next weekend.
The following is taken from an email sent out last night (Thur, April 7th)
We have had work days at the range every day since the Mangagement area was reopened with access to range (4/5/16). We will continue with daily work details until we get the range back in shape and ready for the public. Hopefully next weekend, not this one coming up.
So far we have recovered our benches, target stands, archery items from the south tree line and from the bayou downstream via boat. We had to replace the cattle gate and had three rifle table tops destroyed and seven knocked over. We have poured concrete into fabricated forms and they are curing. We need to rebuild five rifle platforms to hold the shooting tables and will start that tomorrow. We have replaced all carpet on benches and pistol shooting positions. We have more work to do on the shotgun line and shooting seats to build but we can see the light at end of tunnel!
