Most unsettling, he said, was finding his own credentials among the compromised data.

Now exactly how did he accomplish that?

    This sounds a little bolstered.

Plus isn't the easiest way to fix this, if you're a victim,
is to right now go and change your password?

They make it sound like it's a big deal but is it really?

Smh... If they care about my Facebook that much they can have the pictures of my car and my pictures from work. They can even call me. My phone number is on there.... I know there is more to it though... Soon ladies and gentlemen, there will be war on our soil, and im pretty sure the members of this forum are generally ready...

I think I'm going to have to be a victim of something like this before I make changes to the way I do things online.

If you suddenly start noticing posts by you in Cyrillic, that could be a sign, Comrade drpc.

If you do not have a Facebook or Twitter, then you should not have problems with them. I have always thought of social media as something for children and teenagers.

So which are you? Child or Teenager? :p

B/c forums like this one that you're on, are a form of social media.

Regardless, it's an alleged 1.2 billion passwords and emails from
a list of different sites. Not just Social Media sites.

BTW the demographics of social media....
The average ages of social media users holds no surprises …
more than half are between 25 and 44 years old,
with only 5 percent under 17 and only 1 percent over 65.
The absolute average across all social networks is 36.9 percent.

Twitter is actually about the fastest way to receive news/weather/traffic reports these days....Sure, there's a lot of crap- but it does have its uses.

No doubt, especially if you use it like I do.
I subscribe sort of like Youtube, ONLY to Businesses and Organizations, never just people.

This way I get LOADS of promotional goodies and Hot Deal Discounts.
As well as keep up with the latest greatest in all things related, Gear, Guns, Ammo and Sports.

Although I only use like one or two sports subscriptions b/c that crap can get out of control.
Which is why I like Bleacher. You can tailor it to only report on the Teams and Sports YOU are concerned with.

I'm not terribly worried. Some of my data was probably breached by this, but my passwords are basically cryptography of themselves (then encrypted again by the site database).

For sites that have use plaintext databases I use completely bogus info anyways.
