They had a guy in Broussard that was making small UAV's for the military. IIRC, they were about this size. Prop driven though, stealth before speed, I'm guessing.

Boeing is working on one for the Air Force, except it's full size. The prototype can carry a 250 lb. bomb and do 450 mph. They say the operational payload will be 2,000 lb. of smart type munitions.

I was wondering what the fuel is and how much is carried on board.

The flame that came out on ignition was pretty clean.

These operate on Jet A kerosene with a little oil mixed in. For a plane that size, I'd expect 20-30 oz of fuel to be used. Maybe even less depending on how much space they have inside.

That was some good piloting right there. I prefer the prop-driven aerobatic planes like the Extras, etc., but I can really respect someone handling something going that fast! And to land it right at his feet... nice!

That's why you work you way up to turbine license from academy of model aeronautics and get their liability insurance, but that still doesn't cover the $10k+ you have to spend to replace crashed aircraft.

Google those tiny V8, V12 and Radial "gas" engines that some guys make for those planes. They are unreal!

It's amazing what those planes can do. I used to fly a lot when we had the club in Slidell. Fastest I've been was approx 180mph. That speed will get ahead of you fast, I can't imagine flying a micro turbo jet like that.

For anyone around Shreveport there are a bunch of areobatic and jet guys who fly at the SHARKS field. They're friendly and always happy to entertain guests.
