Four National Guard soldiers from Hammond, and it sounds like the seven Marines were from MARSOC. This sucks. Dying in battle is one thing, but losing 11 service members in a training mission... damn

I am still holding out hope. It is still considered search and rescue. Prayers to the families. I have a heavy heart today.

Unfortunately, I know the feeling all too well. In the ten years that I was in maintenance we lost several jets including one that I was crew chief on & knew the flight crew. (Night mission where they were supposed to let down on the far side of a mountain range to go low level TFR but were two checkpoints ahead on the navigation. They impacted 50 feet below the peek of a mountain near Bristol, Tennessee, February 14, 1977, FB-111A s/n 68-0266, pilot Captain Edward R. Riley and bomb-nav Captain Jeremiah E. Sheehan, 509th Bomb Wing at Pease AFB, NH.)

Just reported they found the wreckage of the chopper. I'm still hoping they find some survivors, but I fear it's unlikely.
