Have you much time with a full-size Glock... tell me how they compare. I have a Glock 17 for HD and carry a Keltec PF9... thinking about selling both and getting something G19 sized but not a Glock... M&P9 with my military rebate is the cheapest option.

The only thing G19 sized these days... is a G19.

In the M&P line specifically, there is nothing close to it in size. The 9 FS is closer to a G17, and the 9c is closer to a G26.

It does exist, its called the Caracal C model you can buy one for $400 from Centerfire with free shipping.

That gun is AMAZING, super low bore. Had a chance to run one for a little bit at a class and she ran without issues with the dirties russian ammo you can imagine. The only down side at this point is the sights since there are no real options in the market for after markets.

VERY similar size to a Glock19

My Apex DCAEK/RAM should be in today or tomorrow. I've had 10-8 perf. rear u-notch and front FO sitting on a shelf in my safe for a few weeks now, just waiting for me to order the trigger kit. Hopefully it comes in today so I can take some time this weekend to install them all.

And if I recall correctly, I ordered magazines for my M&P9 from 44mag.com.

APEX DCAEK + RAM AEK trigger+ talon grip+ TFO sights = best plastic gun ever have shot. YRMV I could have bought a HK also for this money but still don't regret my gun.

I carried a G17 for a few months. Liked the capacity and I'm a big guy (6'3) so it wasn't very cumbersome. However, it printed very badly. Thought about getting the M&P9c, but my wife has one and the grip is simply not long enough (even with pinky extension on the magazine). Bought my first G19 today.

I had an M&P 9 in my hand at a local shop today. Trying to decide between it and that G17 RTF that fits my hand like a glove. Seriously, I think they molded this grip from my hand! I know, weird...Big palms, short fingers. I do like the M&P....and I've never owned one. Might be a reason! :)

Interesting. I've been looking at these since they initially dropped but haven't got to play with one.

I'm always leery of a gun without bad reviews. All the reviews I've read seemed paid for. Knowing your candor, I know that isn't the case here.

No issues at all (other than no night sights)?

Rob Pincus with ICE has done a great and extensive review of one, in fact during his US Tour he has been shooting one to find its "failure" point. It is now part of the guns that he recommends for his students as G2G.

There is somebody who is manufacturing FO front sights for them but I cannot remember their name being its not a "known" person, IIRC its a machinist who had one and figured out he could make them for his personal gun and then people started asking for them.

THe model that I shot had the "quick" sights on them and I liked it but Im not fully convinced behind the idea of shortening the sight radius to be more efficient. The models available from Centerfire have the regular sights so thats not an issue.

I would not hesitate to buy one at this point, the industry WILL catch up on them and provide aftermarket accessories.

Bladetech is already making holsters for them, Armordillo concealment is also making kydex concealment holsters so there is no reason why not to give them a shot, specially considering the actual useful time for NS is about 2 hrs per night. Adding a light to the rail would be a better idea.

The Caracal I've played with has the single best striker-fired trigger out of the box of anything I've ever touched. The sights, as Pablo says, are rotten though-- and AFAIK, there's no other options out there just yet.

A good machinist could fix all of that pretty easily, though-- at least in terms of that seemingly easy-to-swap rear (or centrally located) "block" that holds the notch.

They are odd internally, but I'd be interested to see exactly how well they do in regards to durability and reliability in adverse/hard use conditions.
