As a Board member of my neighborhood HOA, along with my disdain for neighbors that don't pay their dues; or the constant struggle to maintain a budget, this is a substantial savings that would be hard to overlook.

They should hire "real" military SEALS for their ranks.

Houston has had armed security services for decades.

Some really good, some not so good.

I worked armed security patrol in Houston when I lived there.

I wonder if they fell out of favor for a time and are now "back by popular demand?"

I wonder how they can have flashy lights on top of their car legally. I didn't think places allowed that?

Garden District in New Orleans had a private security patrol, I think it was called BEARS. You could call the patroling officer's cell phone when you were close to home and he'd park in front of your house until you got out of your car and went inside IF YOU PAID YOUR HOA DUES . They had green flashy lights on their SUVs.

Excellent question. How far can private security go with gear vs the police? Lights on cars, what authority do they have? I have no problem stopping and talking to a police officer. A security guard, on a public street, I don't know about that.
