As said, I have an IHC M1 with all matching/appropriate parts. My question is, where can I get the barrel gauged in order to list and price it accurately?
IHC Garands bring some good dollars. What does the heel stamp look like? There are three variations. If you remove the action from the stock there should be a Julien date. Look below link to judge muzzle wear with a 30-06 cartridge. If you are around Baton Rouge I would measure with a bore gauge.
I stuck the 30-06 in and it goes to the brass. I’ve been told it’s not a good thing, but was looking for a place that could give an accurate measurement for an honest listing. Im in New Orleans area. Thanks for the link
there is a throat erosion gage and a muzzle wear gage, i believe. if your bullet goes to the brass, its beyond a 3 mw. throat erosion affects headspace, i think. there is a lot of information on the cmp site and forums for garand collectors. there are several variations of ihc's, postage stamp, gap-letter and arrow head. stocks can be very valuable depending on the markings. good luck
