Do I need to replace the washer from the flash suppressor when installing a can suppressor on my AR15? Or, it the need can specific? And, even more basic, do I need to replace the crush washer when reinstalling the flash suppressor?

    Thanks for any help.

Do not use a washer with your can.

If flash hider will not line up, then you can get a new washer. I do not.

I took it to mean a direct thread 1/2x28 can.

If it's a direct thread on then you do not use any washer or spacer. It's also a good idea to have the line up checked to make sure your threads are cut true to the end of the bore to prevent a baffle strike. Threads cut for flash hiders don't have to be nearly as precise as threads cut for a suppressor.

I agree, not enough detail in the original post. If the can takes a special mount, then the instructions with the mount should be followed.

If it is a thread mount can, then no crush washer should be used, and checking thread alignment is cheap insurance for NFA toys.

Thanks for all the info. My knowledge has grown significantly. I figure my can will come with directions. I was just trying to get ahead of the learning curve and this helped alot.
