Guys, trying to help a friend. What does she have here? Looks like a 22 rimfire military trainer of some sort. Thanks in advance for your help with the ID!
I'm no expert on this subject. But it's a trainer made prior to WW2. My guess is prior to 1936 because the company that made it was of Jewish ownership, I think. I do know for a fact that the rifle left in the orginal stock is pretty valuable. I don't know what a fair price for it would be though.
Have you tried going to www.gunboards.com their forum and posted it the German collector's thread?
The brand is a simsonerek made in Suhl, I think they were still in business until the 70's, at one time they made very expensive and accurate target 22's. The ss stamps I dont realy think fit, as I dont see a Wafenampt anywhere on the gun. It does appear to be a military trainer as it resembles a mauser 98. I would contact member Candyman, and possibly post on SurplusRifleForums.com.
I never even thought about that possibly being an SS symbol. What do you guys think a ball park value would be? Finish is so so but chamber and bore look excellent.
