My wife took this pic today on S.College in Lafayette. There was a dog in the crate, my question is this a legal way to transport your dog?

My wife and I are dog people, we rescue and foster Basset Hounds, so I biased in the dogs favor. I know some people treat dogs like dogs, some of us go a little too far treating our 4legged friends more like 2 legged ones. Even if the dog is a tool that you use, or a family pet, is transporting it like that legal? My hounds ride inside, some people have them ride in the beds of there trucks( which if mine weren't so stupid they would jump, they would ride there too), but the question is a yes or no question in the eyes of the local guys. Is this a legal way to transport Fido?

No more stupid to me than the people who let their dogs ride loose in the beds of their pickup trucks driving around town or on the interstate.

I'm no leo, but I don't see a problem. The kennel is on a platform and is held down with two ratchet straps. If you got in a wreck the dog would he hurt, but in the car the dog is not in a seat-belt either. I'd say its better than the dog being un-tethered in the bed of a pickup.

The crate is secure, but why not put it in the back of the suv where the dog wouldn't be injured in an accident? Put your luggage on the rack and the dog inside in the crate. My wife wanted to know if that is a stoppable offense? I didn't have an answer other than the lic plate being covered?

If I was a LEO I would use the plate being covered for PC and then see how stupid they got and go from there.

Debbie found this little girl in the middle of the road at 3am in the rain, no houses close by so some SOB put her out. The Vet said she weighs .08 lbs.
