One big secret in La Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries is the research into lead bullets. About 3 years ago they had us not field dressing our deer at Ft Polk Wildlife Management area. I asked why, as this is one hassle for a deep woods hunter. they told me then they were checking to see if the deer at Ft Polk were eating the old bullets embedded in the ground at the Army rifle ranges. There must be billions of bullets out there.

Now it doesn't make sense that deer would eat a bullet any more than nuts and bolts off of old machinery. However improbable it is possible if you engage common sense into the discussion you may find a deer may find a bullet in a salt lick and ingest one. However this is a million to one shot even with a billion bullets on the ground.

We already had the lead shot ban on water fowl now it has been extended to rifle hunting bullets in California (The leading anti-hunting state to insure Condors don't eat a lead bullet on a hunters gut pile in the woods) another million to one shot on the odds.

Ask a Biologist what the results were on the examination of deer eating bullets and you will find this to be "Top Secret." So keep asking, because this is how it starts. So why the secret anyway? Because it was ridiculous in the first place to take biologists and college students and have them do such a thing. But why hide the results? Most likely they didn't find anything or very little, but they wanted to or those giving the orders wanted to and didn't.

So it only becomes speculation as to the intent of all this, until we find the facts. So all gun enthusiast should look into to this as it very well could be another way to take away your ammo or make it more expensive so you will lose interest.
