Is there a way to see who a vehicle is registered to via plate number? (non leo)

I wouldn't think it was too late to report, you have the plate number so it shouldn't be an issue. However, you should have called right when it happened because more likely than not whoever was driving it is gonna say, "It wasn't me".

If you have the license plate number,call your local LEAand give them the info. They should pursue this as a hit and run and personal property damage.

They said since I also left the scene and waited until the next day, all they can do is file a report.

I did find the trucks owner.

Box trucks are usually used on a route. May pass again same time next day or week.

Owner happened to be driver, he said he will cover my parts cost in full upon receipt of invoice.

I guess there are still a few decent people left.
