I put a "for sale" add up on LASportsman and not 2 minutes after I posted I received a txt message from "somebody" at Backpage asking if I could post the same add on their website to help build their sporting goods section. I dont sell that much stuff, but was just wondering if others have gotten the same txt? It just seemed kinda odd/sketchy. I just ignored it.

That is the only type of thing I had ever really heard about backpage, I guess that was one reason it seemed so fishy.
They've started doing this recently in an effort to drum up real business. I don't know if they were bought out, or just want to change their image and do real business. It's a bit odd, but legitimate business practice.
