It all depends, just "wielding a knife" doesnt make him a threat , a 911 call would have been better for all.

Need way more info than what it was provided on that page to fully understand what happened and why this guy thought he had the legal right to make use of DF.

What was the distance, what was said, how many people involved, alcohol involved, drugs involved, etc etc etc???????

Sounds like more to story, but just wielding the knife, not necessarly a deadly force threat. Yes 21 feet and knife , you gonna get shot, but was he charging the fella, was he impaired, and who exactly was he threatining? 911 call, and that many folks around probably could have incapacitated the idiot without shooting him? All that is speculation of course........up to the DA and grand jury to sort it out now. Oh, also curious was shooter a CCW holder?

Investigators say during an argument at a family gathering in Lettsworth, Laneheart threatened to kill several people there while wielding a knife.

Barring the emergence of further facts of a jaw-dropping nature as Spanky says, it will be really, really difficult if not impossible for the prosecution to overcome the presumption of innocence now in Gordon's favor if the above is true.

Maybe the gun was drawn first, and the knife was all the guy had to defend HIMSELF with...

Or maybe the guy with the gun was the instigator, or at least an escalator in the argument. You can't claim self defense in a situation you helped create.
